English 1
This class emphasizes expository and creative writing, vocabulary development, and communications skills. A variety of literature is examined, including short stories, mythology, drama, and poetry. Classroom methods include lectures, audiovisual materials, textbook reading, and discussions. In making the transition from middle school to high school, students learn the importance of the course’s evaluative criteria: timely homework completion, class participation, papers, and tests.
